Viaduct Two has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a balcony above the marina at Viaduct Harbour, in the middle of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. The seat nearest the balcony door is where the morning coffee goes.
The water is a few steps away, and so are the restaurants along the harbour edge.

The places we would send a friend, near the apartment and across the water. Opening hours were checked on 13 October 2026 where the venue publishes them. Where it does not, the card says to check before you go.
Each half-day trip starts from the Downtown Ferry Terminal or the front door. Times are from the operators' own sites, checked on 13 October 2026.
Further afield means 40 minutes or more each way: Piha on the west coast, Waiheke Island by ferry, Kumeū wine country and the farmers' market at Matakana.
Volcanic cones in the city, an island a ferry ride away and a pink path above the motorway. Check each card for hours and closures.
Auckland's seasons run the other way round from the northern hemisphere: summer is December to February. These are the places in the guide at their best, with hours checked on 13 October 2026.

Further afield takes 40 minutes to an hour or more, by ferry or car. Ferries and roads depend on weather and traffic.
Tap the places you would like to see and we will draw you a route from the house, then work out roughly how long it takes. You can save the result as a picture for your phone.

Drawn by hand and not to scale, and drawn only around the city and the inner gulf. Waiheke, Piha, Kumeū and Matakana are in the list but off the edge of the map. Place positions come from OpenStreetMap.

Eight things most visitors walk past, taken from the city's own sources and checked on 13 October 2026.
Maungawhau's crater was known as the food bowl of Mataoho, after the deity linked to volcanic activity, and the hill was once a large pā with terraces, houses, gardens and pits for storing crops. At 196 metres it is Auckland's highest volcano, and it last erupted about 28,000 years ago.
Rangitoto rose from the sea in a series of eruptions about 600 years ago, and Fullers360 calls it New Zealand's youngest and largest shield volcano. It is a pest-free sanctuary, so bags and shoes are checked before you board.
Te Ara I Whiti, the Lightpath, was designed by Monk Mackenzie Architects and LandLAB with the artist Katz Maihi. Black metal pou and carved designs line its western side, and LED lights along the barriers pulse as people pass.
The Auckland Fish Market holds an auction from Monday to Friday: the catch can be viewed from 5 to 6am and bidding starts at 6. By the market's own account, Albert Sanford started the business in 1904.
St Kevins Arcade, on Karangahape Road, dates to 1924. It now holds independent shops, studios, restaurants and music venues.
Sir John Logan Campbell, who gave Cornwall Park to the city, is buried at the summit of Maungakiekie beside the obelisk. The hill was a fortified pā before Europeans arrived, and many of its earthworks can still be seen.
Maungauika North Head has a self-guided walk past tunnels and other military features. The reserve is administered by the Tūpuna Maunga Authority for Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau.
Orbit360, at the top of the Sky Tower, completes one full rotation every hour, and Auckland NZ says it is the only rotating restaurant in the country. SkyBar, on level 50, is called New Zealand's highest bar.

Tāmaki Makaurau is a city of volcanoes, harbours and Pacific communities, and its writers, artists and screen stories keep coming back to that. Here is where to start.
Albert Wendt, who taught New Zealand literature at the University of Auckland, is the writer to begin with.
A novel about a young Samoan man's life in New Zealand. Wendt was the University of Auckland's first professor of New Zealand literature, from 1988 to 2008.
A novel about a group of friends and their life in Auckland.
Two artists whose work belongs to Auckland.
A shop on Karangahape Road that gathers local makers.
One film that put the west coast on the map, and one comedy set in the suburbs.
Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira are both in the guide, with their hours.

One secure space comes with the apartment. Your booking message says how to reach it.

The nearest pharmacy we have checked is in Commercial Bay. The Downtown Ferry Terminal is where the Waiheke, Devonport and Rangitoto ferries leave. For a taxi, any rideshare app works, and the extras page lists a taxi company.
Please leave by 10am. Load the dishwasher, put rubbish and recycling in the bins, close the balcony door and return the keys as your booking message says.
